But he took the essence of the purified Buster Dragon into himself, ensuring that his companion will always be a part of him. With a heavy heart, he ended his former companion's life. But eventually Buster Whelp became the Buster Dragon, and the companionship and love the dragon showed towards the swordsman turned into an obsession, wanting to never part with him, which is probably why Buster Dragon can revive Buster Blader from the graveyard each turn.īuster Blader was forced to fight his former friend, and sadly he couldn't separate the evil from it. Or maybe the whelp was destined to become corrupted due to its linage, I'm not sure. Buster Blader's sword absorbed the essence of the foes it slew, and maybe the darkness of the sword tainted the whelp. However, as the whelp grew, so did the darkness within it. I guess he didn't have it in him to kill an innocent child or leave it to die in the wild. Taking a chance, against his better judgement, and against everything he's known and believed in, he took in the whelp. On one fateful mission, he saw the Buster Whelp with its mother (the black dragon from prologue), and seeing that the mother did not have any concerns with hurting its child while battling Buster Blader, he rescued the whelp while slaying the mother. This is the story that I've gathered from the card arts.īuster Blader hated dragons, slaying them with no restraint. The Buster Whelp could only be purified through death, and Buster Blader absorbed his dragon so that it would always be a part of him. What this means is that the story ends with the fusion of Buster Blader and his companion into the Dragon Slayer. This card did not depict Buster Blader being able to rescue it from its evil half it instead depicts their first meeting. However, the English name signifies that this is not true at all, and that the word cradle used before was supposed to mean infancy, as in, beginning. From the art, people assumed that it was the latest installment of the story showing Buster Blader able to separate the good and evil halves of his pet dragon, and rescuing it in with his arm as the "cradle". When the card was first spoiled from Japan, it was called the Cradle of the Destruction Swordsman. New or Returning? Get Started Here!
